Biggest Fans
The Notre Dame Cheerleaders are no strangers to ND spirit. The
20 plus member squad boast of pride and energy while they
cheer their school’s football and basketball teams onto
victory year after year. These athletes, coached by Karen
Wallace and Angela Tancredi, come from all ages, grades and
abilities. From dance to gymnastics, conditioning and elite
stunting, the athletic training that these ladies receive put
them in great physical condition. Pound for pound, the
cheerleaders are some of the fittest athletes at Notre Dame.
Come rain or shine, indoor or outdoor, you can count on the
‘Lady Irish’ to represent ND in every way possible both in and
outside of the school. The Notre Dame Cheerleaders are very
well known as community ambassadors and give back to the
community whenever asked. Whether it be kicking off the United
Way annual campaign, the Terry Fox Run, Jackie’s Walk and
numerous other local events the team volunteers their time and
ability to help these very worthy causes.
But the cheer only begins here. The team also spends more than
half of their season training for Regional, Provincial and
National Competitions to which they reign as four time
Provincial and two time National Champions.
Tryouts take place at the end of May every year marking the
official start of the team’s 12 month season. From Trail’s End
Training Camp in Beech Lake, Pennsylvania to running their own
kids camp during our March and summer holidays, the team knows
nothing less than leadership, dedication and hard work.
However, their great success is not solely due to their
commitment to the school but also their commitment to each
other, as the girls embody and live by the old adage “There’s
no I in Team.”

Cheerleading At Notre Dame

“Cheer, Cheer for old Notre Dame!” These girls take that
first line to a whole new level. Coached by Mrs. Karen
Wallace, Mrs. Angela Eckhardt and Ms. Sarah Rose, the
Notre Dame Cheerleaders show their spirit on and off the
field for all 12 months of the year.
Cheering for the Sr./Jr. Boys Football teams as well as
the Sr. Boys’ Basketball team, the Notre Dame
Cheerleaders take each opportunity to prove why they
made it to Provincials last year, taking second place in
the end.
“It’s not practice that makes perfect, it’s perfect
practice that makes perfect.” The girls’ motto and
driving force will hopefully lead them to another win at
this year’s Provincial Championships. Starting in
January of 2009, we encourage you to reverse roles and
cheer our girls as they attend their own competitions.
