Social Climate
By: Melaney Turner
Social Climate is a club working towards creating a friendly,
welcoming environment for everyone at Notre Dame. Sometimes referred
to as “the pulse of the school”, Social Climate is moderated by Mr.
Turner, Miss Barbatano and Ms. Berkhout, and contains about 100
members. Social Climate concentrates on supporting the vulnerable in
the school community. The members welcome new students to the
school, from different cultures and different schools, and promote a
peaceful atmosphere. They also participate in food drives, toy
drives, the Walk Against Male Violence and the Pilgrimage. Social
Climate meets on Thursdays during periods 2, 3, and 4. Some of the
upcoming events in the next few months for the club include the
Multicultural Christmas Dinner, the Montreal Massacre Prayer
Service, and Grade 8 Day. Social Climate is a wonderful group to be
a part of, the club has a lot to offer to the school and the
community. New members are always welcome.
