Open Arms Mission
By Melaney Turner

The Open Arms Mission called “Mish” for short, is one of the many clubs at Notre Dame working for social justice in our community. The club, led by Mrs. Turner and Mrs. Harold, is quite small, consisting of only 20 members, but is growing rapidly. The main focus of the group is the meals that they serve to the less fortunate 4 or 5 times a year. These meals are held on Saturday afternoons at the Open Arms Mission, and they are prepared and served by the Mish members. The members also hold bake sales at the school to pay for the groceries used for the dinners. The club meets once a month to discuss fundraising and upcoming meals. The Mish does an excellent job of raising awareness of the needy in our area, and continues to have a positive impact on the community. The Toy Drive, which is also run by the group, is coming up during the second week of December, and they have an upcoming dinner on Saturday, November 29 at the Open Arms Mission. For more information on the Open Arms Mission Club, please contact Mrs. Turner at tinaturnernd@hotmail.com.
